Reading Education Assistance Dogs love to listen! Research shows that children who read to dogs make great strides in reading comprehension while building self-esteem, confidence, and social skills.
Christy Meyer is a retired school counselor, and a trained Paws for Service dog handler who works with the R.E.A.D. program. Christy and Oakley will be in the library on Saturdays, January 19, February 16, and March 16. Fifteen minute appointments are available. Parents can sign their children up to read to Oakley at the circulation desk, or by calling 659-7048 during regular library hours.
